ORSTED to leave the UK energy market

Amanda Byrne

21st January 2021

A change of focus

You may be aware that the energy company Ørsted's vision is a ‘World run entirely on green energy’, and as such their future strategic focus and investment lies in expanding, scaling and supporting wind power development in the best way possible within the UK and wider global footprint.

As a result, they believe that the majority of their customers will be better served in the future by those suppliers where customer supply is at the heart of their strategic focus.

A transfer of accounts

Late in 2020, Ørsted signed an agreement with Total Gas & Power (Total) to transfer a number of their SME and I&C gas and power customers to them.

This agreement has now received clearance and Ørsted are working with Total on the processes to transfer their energy customers over to them. We expect the transfer to occur in Q1 2021.

What does this mean for me and my Ørsted energy contract?

Under the agreement reached, Total will honour the existing terms and conditions of your Ørsted contracts including the contract prices and duration. Ørsted are providing Total with all the details of your contract so they can arrange to register and transfer your account efficiently.

Why Total?

Total Gas & Power is part of Total SE – a broad energy company.  They have been supplying businesses in the UK with energy for over 30 years and currently supply in excess of 200,000 sites across the country.  Their ambition is to be the UK’s most trusted energy supplier and their customers rate them as “Great” on Trustpilot.

What next?

Ørsted will write to your energy broker once they start the transfer of your energy contracts to Total. In the meantime if you have any questions, please contact your energy consultant/Account Manager or email us
