Now as Operations Director at Brownlow Utilities, Stephen is instrumental in driving a comprehensive portfolio of energy and utility services for businesses of all shapes and sizes. In addition to advising and managing many of Brownlow's clients, Stephen focuses on ensuring that Brownlow's people, processes and systems are optimised so that we can efficiently and professionally support our clients and employees at any stage of the utility purchasing process - adding value wherever possible.
Carl brings a unique combination of technical expertise and real-life application to Brownlow. As a qualified Electro Mechanical Engineer and with a HND in Electrical Power, Carl has an incredible understanding of the technical dynamics within the energy industry.
Having spent over 20 years working in Manufacturing and Environmental industries across the globe, Carl joined Schneider Electric Energy & Sustainability Services in 2007 as Senior Client Manager responsible for clients with annual energy & utility spend in excess of £300M. Carl then moved to Brownlow Utilities as a Senior Account Manager, resolving the purchasing and compliance issues of many blue chip companies.
With a comprehensive understanding of risk management strategies together with a detailed knowledge of environmental and energy sector legislation, Carl now directs the Trading and Carbon Services teams, whilst providing exceptional technical and legislative knowledge to our clients.
After 19 informative and happy years at Schneider Electric, Energy & Sustainability Services, Lee is redirecting his experience from a truly global coverage, to helping UK & EU businesses navigate the ever-evolving sustainability landscape.
Having previously worked with Shaun McClarnon (MD), Lee joins the Brownlow team as Partner and Sustainability Director. With years’ of sustainability experience in legislation, ESG reporting, net zero strategy, energy auditing, sub metering and management, Lee will help businesses (both existing and new to Brownlow Utilities) strive in understanding the existing and new sustainability obligations launched under the recent COP26 gathering in Glasgow.
Heading up the Sustainability team, Lee will embark on a collective journey to Net Zero by 2050, supporting partners, suppliers and indeed our clients along the way.
Scott is an experienced Sales Manager within the Energy sector. He has worked predominantly on the supply side but moved to the TPI (Third Party Intermediary)/energy consultancy world in 2019.
Scott has a proven record of growth and has been successful at building a new team and the development of an established team. Creating sales strategies and understanding the best approach to increase growth targets.
Scott aims to increase the number of businesses that can benefit from Brownlow's exceptional services and ethical and honest approach, selling our wide range of services to a new portfolio of clients.
Rob has a wide understanding of the utilities industry, having been involved in both supplier and consultancy businesses since 2002. Rob’s experience has been gained largely in the corporate sector covering fixed, flexible and international procurement.
More recently Rob has held senior operational management positions, supporting his teams growth and delivery of a successful client experience.
Rob firmly believes an energy consultant is an extension of a client’s business, that the procurement process extends through the life cycle of an arranged supply agreement and success is measured upon the retention of a client. Brownlow's customer retention statistics vouch for this!
Mark has over 40 years of experience in the energy supply industry, having started his career with Norweb in 1975. Qualified in Building Service Engineering and with a strong background in electricity and gas mains engineering works, Mark truly understands the technical aspects of electricity and gas supply contract arrangements.
Having worked in various client facing roles including National Account Manager and Client Manager, Mark further developed his portfolio skills by managing fixed and flex type supply contracts from very small commercial properties up to very large manufacturing facilities and multi site organisations.
Marks wealth of technical skills plus his deep understanding of the different contract arrangements makes him a font of knowledge to help our clients.
Brian has worked in the utility brokerage / consultancy industry since around the time of electricity deregulation in the early 1990’s, after graduating with a Business degree.
He started his career in the analysis space, identifying invoicing errors and savings’ opportunities which included a refund of > £150 000 for a manufacturing company in the North East! Brian then moved into the procurement of gas and electricity, mainly for SMEs, attending meetings with clients to discuss energy strategy and compliance requirements.
All of this experience provided a solid platform on which to drive a successful account management role. Over the last 10 years, Brian has further developed a sound understanding of pricing (both fixed and flexed), contract components and billing methodology.
Having experience across a number of industry leading brokers and businesses of all shapes and sizes, Brian has insight into how client issues are best handled throughout the entire service life cycle; discussions on client requirements, supply contract negotiation and placement, management of the client’s account, bill auditing, query resolution and provision of compliance pieces. This insight is supported by ethical working practices which are fundamental to Brownlow.
Amanda has over 25 years of sales and marketing experience across a range of industry sectors with a first class degree background in engineering and economics.
Having worked for leading renewable and heating solution providers, Amanda’s knowledge of the energy market and appreciation of the dynamics that play within it, help her to present Brownlow’s comprehensive range of services in a simple, value-driven way.
This is strengthened by her own energy and passion to communicate Brownlow’s transparent, honest and client-focused approach which underpins our claim ‘The utility specialist you can trust!’
Joining Brownlow shortly after graduating from Lancaster University, Luke brings with him a clear appreciation and understanding of facts and figures and how small details can make a big difference.
At Brownlow, Luke is tasked with monitoring, analysing and assessing the various energy and carbon market conditions that affect UK businesses. Together with the Brownlow team, Luke will help to reduce costs, impact and risk.
Lewis started his career in the energy industry at the age of 16 as an apprentice with Brownlow Utilities. He worked his way through various roles including Fixed Energy Procurement, Flexible Energy Procurement, Metering and Trading.
Lewis then decided to apply these skills and experience in an Account Management role at a large commercial gas supplier, Gazprom, where he confidently supported over 30 businesses.
Brownlow were overjoyed when Lewis decided to re-join the team as an Account Manager in February 2022. His experience in contract negotiation, customer service, energy markets, trading, and risk management is second to none and this will all help to support our clients on a daily basis.
As a graduate in Mathematics from Lancaster University, Jack has held several financial and accounting roles for technology businesses and a local charity. Through this he brings a wealth of research, analytical and technical experience to the Brownlow procurement team.
Jack leads the trading team who proactively trade energy on behalf of our customers within flexible contracts by monitoring, analysing and assessing the various energy market conditions. With a fantastic work ethic, a keen eye for detail and a process-driven approach, Jack has added huge value to both fixed and flexible procurement services that we offer to our clients.
Andy has many years of experience experience within the energy TPI sector with roles that included Pricing Analyst, Senior Energy & Risk Management Analyst and currently Energy Procurement Manager.
Solution focused and with an innovative attitude, Andy ensures a strong and productive relationship between our clients and energy suppliers. Andy can procure fixed, pass through and flexible contracts whilst supporting the account managers, traders and stakeholders where necessary with all procurement matters.
Jacob has been part of the Brownlow team since the outset. He has worked studiously, always in line with the business’s ethics and adding value at every stage of the procurement process.
Beginning his Brownlow career as an Energy analyst and swiftly moving to Senior Energy Analyst, Jacob has ensured the efficient and professional creation of tenders and the subsequent management of contracts. Jacob is currently managing the Fixed Procurement section of the business, ensuring that the systems and processes are smart, leading edge and put the client at the heart.
Dave has a proven ability to deliver business results through challenging and problematic circumstances. Having over 30 years of senior level energy industry experience, Dave has worked with leading consultancies including Inenco and PCMG.
With a very strong operational background, he identifies, understands and resolves many of the contract, billing and regulatory issues that businesses face.
In auditing clients’ invoices, Dave demonstrates an appreciation of the numerous, non-commodity elements of an energy bill , and applies sophisticated analytical techniques and supplier negotiation to ensure a smooth and complete delivery of a project. He has identified almost £1M in recoveries/savings in one year on historical overcharging.
Natasha has been working in the energy industry for over 11 years. Prior to this, she spent time in Sales, as an agent and a coach, and also as a Relationship Manager.
This experience provided a strong foundation on which to fulfil her personal mission of helping businesses to save money whilst ensuring they receive the optimum service at every stage of the sales cycle.
To further support this mission, Natasha has completed a Diploma in Business Administration and Management, She is able to react to the various challenges placed on businesses and find solutions that will efficiently resolve and add value.
From an energy perspective, this means making the contract renewal and switch processes painless and hassle-free -developing supplier relations, managing registrations and the onboarding process and resolving any issues that may occur pre, during and post contract signature.
Wes joined the Brownlow Operational Support team bringing a vast array of academic, customer service, analysis, reporting and communication skills.
With a BSc degree, Wes applies his project driven approach to problem solving and analysis for our clients. Having worked in pressurised, elite sport environments, Wes is no stranger to finding an appropriate solution, responding to any customer issues with speed and efficiency.
Wes will be responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting on our client's energy data, responding to their queries and helping them to be competitive and complaint as far as their energy and utilities are concerned.
Connah joined Brownlow having a strong technical background in database management, website development and general IT support. This is backed by an educational CV of further maths, physics and chemistry at A Level.
Connah also demonstrates success in customer facing roles having been in customer service and sales roles within the demanding retail environment.
Whilst at Brownlow, Connah has put all of these skills into use for our clients by providing a contract and supplier support service. As part of the Operational Support team, Connah has gained extensive experience of the energy industry working with over 25 suppliers, DNO's, metering suppliers and the extended Brownlow team.
Connah will use this experience when he moves into a procurement role within the next few weeks.
Lydia brings strong scientific, business and social skills to the Brownlow team having graduated from University in Criminology and Sociology. Upon joining Brownlow, she immediately made an impact supporting the Carbon Team and our clients with ESOS Phase 2 and SECR compliance whilst being involved in sales and marketing activities.
Lydia’s experience and skills mean that she is now a valuable member of the operational support team dealing with client issues including requests, terminations and data profile reports.
Lukas has an apparent thirst for knowledge and desire to make a difference. Having joined Brownlow in July 2019, he is a key part of the Operational Support team. He has a strong grasp on the key issues that can affect our client’s business energy and water arrangements and an enthusiasm that drives an effective solution.
Within these turbulent times for businesses, Lukas's support and enthusiasm with respect to water audits in particular, has been resulting in thousands of pounds worth of refunds.
Going a step further to better meet the demands of our clients, Lukas is enrolled on the Junior Energy Manager (JEM) apprenticeship program. This will develop his energy management skills, his knowledge of the energy industry and the problems that businesses face whilst improving the service we deliver to our clients.
Brett has recently joined Brownlow to drive the water services team and saving opportunities for businesses.
Having over 25 years experience in all aspects of water services, Brett will be responsible for identifying ways to save businesses money and improve the efficiency of their water supply and drainage operations. To support this endeavour, he brings a wealth of knowledge, commercial awareness and account management skills.
Brett will be supported by a team of experienced water analysts and engineers, in addition to the wider Brownlow bill audit and energy teams.
Paul has over 40 years' experience in the UK utility industry. He has dedicated many years to each one of the major players; British Gas, Norweb and United Utilities across engineering and account management roles.
With this wealth of knowledge, Paul decided to become a Freelance Water Consultant, helping businesses of all shapes and sizes manage their water supply, drainage and billing. Paul now brings all of this experience and is a valuable member of the Brownlow water services team, helping even more business recognise savings.

Matthew has always has a huge interest in energy and the environment. He eagerly joined Brownlow having successfully completed his A Levels and working evenings and weekends in a customer services role for a high street retailer.
As Carbon Services Analyst he is growing his knowledge of the various carbon legislation and schemes that businesses face and ensuring that Brownlow’s clients are both compliant and competitive.

With an impressive history in office management, customer service and financial administration, Denise has a firm hold on business procedures, practices and governance. Denise puts all of this into practice at Brownlow being a focal point for all of the business’s financial activities including bookeeping, invoicing, commission management, debt collection and report management.
As Managing Director and founder of Brownlow Utilities, Shaun brings unrivalled experience, knowledge and skills to the business. He has been involved in the competitive energy market since its inception in 1990, first at Norweb where he managed an annual portfolio of £1.5 billion of energy sales.
In 2000, Shaun co-founded Utility Masters and helped grow the company to become one of the largest and most respected consultancies in the UK. After selling the business in 2010, Shaun has continued to work in the energy market, founding Brownlow Utilities.
Stephen has worked in the energy and water industry for more than 20 years. Beginning his career with United Utilities, Stephen moved from the Energy Trading team to Account Management, supporting many business' water services in the North West. With a breadth of experience, Stephen then moved to an independent energy consultancy, Utility Masters, to head up the Water Services department.
Now as Operations Director at Brownlow Utilities, Stephen is instrumental in driving a comprehensive portfolio of energy and utility services for businesses of all shapes and sizes. In addition to advising and managing many of Brownlow's clients, Stephen focuses on ensuring that Brownlow's people, processes and systems are optimised so that we can efficiently and professionally support our clients and employees at any stage of the utility purchasing process - adding value wherever possible.
Carl brings a unique combination of technical expertise and real-life application to Brownlow. As a qualified Electro Mechanical Engineer and with a HND in Electrical Power, Carl has an incredible understanding of the technical dynamics within the energy industry.
Having spent over 20 years working in Manufacturing and Environmental industries across the globe, Carl joined Schneider Electric Energy & Sustainability Services in 2007 as Senior Client Manager responsible for clients with annual energy & utility spend in excess of £300M. Carl then moved to Brownlow Utilities as a Senior Account Manager, resolving the purchasing and compliance issues of many blue chip companies.
With a comprehensive understanding of risk management strategies together with a detailed knowledge of environmental and energy sector legislation, Carl now directs the Trading and Carbon Services teams, whilst providing exceptional technical and legislative knowledge to our clients.
After 19 informative and happy years at Schneider Electric, Energy & Sustainability Services, Lee is redirecting his experience from a truly global coverage, to helping UK & EU businesses navigate the ever-evolving sustainability landscape.
Having previously worked with Shaun McClarnon (MD), Lee joins the Brownlow team as Partner and Sustainability Director. With years’ of sustainability experience in legislation, ESG reporting, net zero strategy, energy auditing, sub metering and management, Lee will help businesses (both existing and new to Brownlow Utilities) strive in understanding the existing and new sustainability obligations launched under the recent COP26 gathering in Glasgow.
Heading up the Sustainability team, Lee will embark on a collective journey to Net Zero by 2050, supporting partners, suppliers and indeed our clients along the way.
Scott is an experienced Sales Manager within the Energy sector. He has worked predominantly on the supply side but moved to the TPI (Third Party Intermediary)/energy consultancy world in 2019.
Scott has a proven record of growth and has been successful at building a new team and the development of an established team. Creating sales strategies and understanding the best approach to increase growth targets.
Scott aims to increase the number of businesses that can benefit from Brownlow's exceptional services and ethical and honest approach, selling our wide range of services to a new portfolio of clients.
Rob has a wide understanding of the utilities industry, having been involved in both supplier and consultancy businesses since 2002. Rob’s experience has been gained largely in the corporate sector covering fixed, flexible and international procurement.
More recently Rob has held senior operational management positions, supporting his teams growth and delivery of a successful client experience.
Rob firmly believes an energy consultant is an extension of a client’s business, that the procurement process extends through the life cycle of an arranged supply agreement and success is measured upon the retention of a client. Brownlow's customer retention statistics vouch for this!
Mark has over 40 years of experience in the energy supply industry, having started his career with Norweb in 1975. Qualified in Building Service Engineering and with a strong background in electricity and gas mains engineering works, Mark truly understands the technical aspects of electricity and gas supply contract arrangements.
Having worked in various client facing roles including National Account Manager and Client Manager, Mark further developed his portfolio skills by managing fixed and flex type supply contracts from very small commercial properties up to very large manufacturing facilities and multi site organisations.
Marks wealth of technical skills plus his deep understanding of the different contract arrangements makes him a font of knowledge to help our clients.
Brian has worked in the utility brokerage / consultancy industry since around the time of electricity deregulation in the early 1990’s, after graduating with a Business degree.
He started his career in the analysis space, identifying invoicing errors and savings’ opportunities which included a refund of > £150 000 for a manufacturing company in the North East! Brian then moved into the procurement of gas and electricity, mainly for SMEs, attending meetings with clients to discuss energy strategy and compliance requirements.
All of this experience provided a solid platform on which to drive a successful account management role. Over the last 10 years, Brian has further developed a sound understanding of pricing (both fixed and flexed), contract components and billing methodology.
Having experience across a number of industry leading brokers and businesses of all shapes and sizes, Brian has insight into how client issues are best handled throughout the entire service life cycle; discussions on client requirements, supply contract negotiation and placement, management of the client’s account, bill auditing, query resolution and provision of compliance pieces. This insight is supported by ethical working practices which are fundamental to Brownlow.
Amanda has over 25 years of sales and marketing experience across a range of industry sectors with a first class degree background in engineering and economics.
Having worked for leading renewable and heating solution providers, Amanda’s knowledge of the energy market and appreciation of the dynamics that play within it, help her to present Brownlow’s comprehensive range of services in a simple, value-driven way.
This is strengthened by her own energy and passion to communicate Brownlow’s transparent, honest and client-focused approach which underpins our claim ‘The utility specialist you can trust!’
Joining Brownlow shortly after graduating from Lancaster University, Luke brings with him a clear appreciation and understanding of facts and figures and how small details can make a big difference.
At Brownlow, Luke is tasked with monitoring, analysing and assessing the various energy and carbon market conditions that affect UK businesses. Together with the Brownlow team, Luke will help to reduce costs, impact and risk.
Lewis started his career in the energy industry at the age of 16 as an apprentice with Brownlow Utilities. He worked his way through various roles including Fixed Energy Procurement, Flexible Energy Procurement, Metering and Trading.
Lewis then decided to apply these skills and experience in an Account Management role at a large commercial gas supplier, Gazprom, where he confidently supported over 30 businesses.
Brownlow were overjoyed when Lewis decided to re-join the team as an Account Manager in February 2022. His experience in contract negotiation, customer service, energy markets, trading, and risk management is second to none and this will all help to support our clients on a daily basis.
As a graduate in Mathematics from Lancaster University, Jack has held several financial and accounting roles for technology businesses and a local charity. Through this he brings a wealth of research, analytical and technical experience to the Brownlow procurement team.
Jack leads the trading team who proactively trade energy on behalf of our customers within flexible contracts by monitoring, analysing and assessing the various energy market conditions. With a fantastic work ethic, a keen eye for detail and a process-driven approach, Jack has added huge value to both fixed and flexible procurement services that we offer to our clients.
Andy has many years of experience experience within the energy TPI sector with roles that included Pricing Analyst, Senior Energy & Risk Management Analyst and currently Energy Procurement Manager.
Solution focused and with an innovative attitude, Andy ensures a strong and productive relationship between our clients and energy suppliers. Andy can procure fixed, pass through and flexible contracts whilst supporting the account managers, traders and stakeholders where necessary with all procurement matters.
Jacob has been part of the Brownlow team since the outset. He has worked studiously, always in line with the business’s ethics and adding value at every stage of the procurement process.
Beginning his Brownlow career as an Energy analyst and swiftly moving to Senior Energy Analyst, Jacob has ensured the efficient and professional creation of tenders and the subsequent management of contracts. Jacob is currently managing the Fixed Procurement section of the business, ensuring that the systems and processes are smart, leading edge and put the client at the heart.
Dave has a proven ability to deliver business results through challenging and problematic circumstances. Having over 30 years of senior level energy industry experience, Dave has worked with leading consultancies including Inenco and PCMG.
With a very strong operational background, he identifies, understands and resolves many of the contract, billing and regulatory issues that businesses face.
In auditing clients’ invoices, Dave demonstrates an appreciation of the numerous, non-commodity elements of an energy bill , and applies sophisticated analytical techniques and supplier negotiation to ensure a smooth and complete delivery of a project. He has identified almost £1M in recoveries/savings in one year on historical overcharging.
Natasha has been working in the energy industry for over 11 years. Prior to this, she spent time in Sales, as an agent and a coach, and also as a Relationship Manager.
This experience provided a strong foundation on which to fulfil her personal mission of helping businesses to save money whilst ensuring they receive the optimum service at every stage of the sales cycle.
To further support this mission, Natasha has completed a Diploma in Business Administration and Management, She is able to react to the various challenges placed on businesses and find solutions that will efficiently resolve and add value.
From an energy perspective, this means making the contract renewal and switch processes painless and hassle-free -developing supplier relations, managing registrations and the onboarding process and resolving any issues that may occur pre, during and post contract signature.
Wes joined the Brownlow Operational Support team bringing a vast array of academic, customer service, analysis, reporting and communication skills.
With a BSc degree, Wes applies his project driven approach to problem solving and analysis for our clients. Having worked in pressurised, elite sport environments, Wes is no stranger to finding an appropriate solution, responding to any customer issues with speed and efficiency.
Wes will be responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting on our client's energy data, responding to their queries and helping them to be competitive and complaint as far as their energy and utilities are concerned.
Connah joined Brownlow having a strong technical background in database management, website development and general IT support. This is backed by an educational CV of further maths, physics and chemistry at A Level.
Connah also demonstrates success in customer facing roles having been in customer service and sales roles within the demanding retail environment.
Whilst at Brownlow, Connah has put all of these skills into use for our clients by providing a contract and supplier support service. As part of the Operational Support team, Connah has gained extensive experience of the energy industry working with over 25 suppliers, DNO's, metering suppliers and the extended Brownlow team.
Connah will use this experience when he moves into a procurement role within the next few weeks.
Lydia brings strong scientific, business and social skills to the Brownlow team having graduated from University in Criminology and Sociology. Upon joining Brownlow, she immediately made an impact supporting the Carbon Team and our clients with ESOS Phase 2 and SECR compliance whilst being involved in sales and marketing activities.
Lydia’s experience and skills mean that she is now a valuable member of the operational support team dealing with client issues including requests, terminations and data profile reports.
Lukas has an apparent thirst for knowledge and desire to make a difference. Having joined Brownlow in July 2019, he is a key part of the Operational Support team. He has a strong grasp on the key issues that can affect our client’s business energy and water arrangements and an enthusiasm that drives an effective solution.
Within these turbulent times for businesses, Lukas's support and enthusiasm with respect to water audits in particular, has been resulting in thousands of pounds worth of refunds.
Going a step further to better meet the demands of our clients, Lukas is enrolled on the Junior Energy Manager (JEM) apprenticeship program. This will develop his energy management skills, his knowledge of the energy industry and the problems that businesses face whilst improving the service we deliver to our clients.
Brett has recently joined Brownlow to drive the water services team and saving opportunities for businesses.
Having over 25 years experience in all aspects of water services, Brett will be responsible for identifying ways to save businesses money and improve the efficiency of their water supply and drainage operations. To support this endeavour, he brings a wealth of knowledge, commercial awareness and account management skills.
Brett will be supported by a team of experienced water analysts and engineers, in addition to the wider Brownlow bill audit and energy teams.
Paul has over 40 years' experience in the UK utility industry. He has dedicated many years to each one of the major players; British Gas, Norweb and United Utilities across engineering and account management roles.
With this wealth of knowledge, Paul decided to become a Freelance Water Consultant, helping businesses of all shapes and sizes manage their water supply, drainage and billing. Paul now brings all of this experience and is a valuable member of the Brownlow water services team, helping even more business recognise savings.
Les has years of water supply and drainage experience having spent over 30 years working for United Utilities.
Matthew has always has a huge interest in energy and the environment. He eagerly joined Brownlow having successfully completed his A Levels and working evenings and weekends in a customer services role for a high street retailer.
As Carbon Services Analyst he is growing his knowledge of the various carbon legislation and schemes that businesses face and ensuring that Brownlow’s clients are both compliant and competitive.
