UNSCRUPULOUS - 'Behaving in a way that is unfair or dishonest in order to get what you want'

We are disgusted, disappointed, angry…… A client of ours signed a level 2 LOA in 2017 with their previous Energy Consultant.

Unbeknown to them, this allowed the consultant to lock them into a 4 year contract in May 2018 for an October 2019 start, with we believe, in the region of £80k per year commission in! This commission is around a 3rd of the Client’s gas costs.

The Supplier accepted this contract without even asking the Consultant for confirmation evidence that the Client was aware of the contract.

On behalf of our Client we have contested this contract with the Supplier. Despite no hard evidence of the Client’s knowledge of the existence of the contract, the Supplier chose to back the Consultant and they will continue to pay the commission payments …..

Suppliers quite rightly query some of the behaviour of energy consultants however examples like this show a very poor standard of ethics are still very evident within the UK’s major energy suppliers.
