Climate Change Agreement - CCA Scheme Extension

Amanda Byrne

14th September 2020

The Government has re-opened the Climate Change Agreement (CCA) scheme to new applicants until 30th November 2020. This date has been set out for the sector associations to submit applications to the Environmental Agency.

However, as a business, you would need to complete and submit your application by the end of October 2020Eligible businesses can receive a percentage discount on the Climate Change Levy (CCL). This scheme is administered by the Environmental Agency (EA).

CCA’s are voluntary agreements made by UK industry and the Environment Agency to reduce energy use and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Eligible businesses can receive a percentage discount on the Climate Change Levy (CCL). This scheme is administered by the Environmental Agency (EA).

There’s only 6 weeks left to get a reduction in the taxes you pay (CCL) on your electricity or gas bills.

What is the Climate Change Levy (CCL)?

CCL is an environmental tax charged on the energy that a business uses. This levy applies on the use of electricity, gas and solid fuels.

The CCL main rates are listed on your business’s energy bill.

How much can my business save?

By having a CCA your CCL charge can be reduced, saving your business up to 10% on all energy costs.

CCL discount will offer savings of nearly £300 million annually to eligible businesses within the UK.
