As Chairman and founder of Brownlow Utilities, Shaun brings unrivalled experience, knowledge and skills to the business. He has been involved in the competitive energy market since its inception in 1990, first at Norweb where he managed an annual portfolio of £1.5 billion of energy sales.
In 2000, Shaun co-founded Utility Masters and helped grow the company to become one of the largest and most respected consultancies in the UK. After selling the business in 2010, Shaun has continued to work in the energy market, founding Brownlow Utilities in 2013.
Now with around 30 employees, Shaun and the Management team have created a first class, reputable consultancy and services company, specialising in a range of business energy and sustainability solutions.
Recognising the need for change and growth, Shaun has moved to Chairman of the business providing invaluable strategic and long term support and aspirations. He still remains a strong sales force within the business, managing some high profile and long standing client relations.
Managing Director with 20 years’ experience in leading and growing teams on a global scale, within the energy industry. A wealth of experience in change management and strategic planning, for organic growth. An inclusive leader that not only achieves results, but also ensures the entire team share in the success and culture of the business.
Steve joins the Brownlow senior leadership team as Head of Operations. With a strong academic record and years of senior level experience in various arms of the energy industry, Steve brings a wealth of operational knowledge, skills and management and an understanding of challenges that UK business face with regards to their energy and sustainability that is second to none.
With a BA (hons) degree in business/finance followed by an MBA from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) business school, Steve has a firm grasp on the factors that drive a business's success - and failure. From an energy perspective, he applies this knowledge practically find ways to add value, reduce costs, improve efficiencies and measure performance.
Steve joined the senior management team at ENER-G, a Manchester based renewable energy company almost 20 years ago. During that time, he witnessed the business grow significantly whereby it expanded overseas operating in a number of jurisdictions around the world. Steve then moved on to join one of the UK’s largest energy consultancies managing a portfolio which included large public sector clients, blue chips and renewable generators. More recently, Steve headed up B-engineering’s entry into renewables, developing their operational, design and commercial capability, helping them to gain the relevant industry accreditations.
Laurence recently joined Brownlow bringing a wealth of sustainability, engineering and consultancy knowledge to the company and the Account Management team.
Strengthened by renewable energy, CHP and on-site generation experience, Laurence has successfully managed a range of multi-site retail, large manufacturing and blue chip organisations with their energy and sustainability challenges.
With qualifications in Engineering and Business Sustainability Management, Laurence brings a wealth of knowledge, commercial awareness and account management skills to help Brownlow's clients achieve their net zero goals whilst remaining competitive and compliant.
Amanda has over 25 years of sales and marketing experience across a range of industry sectors with a first class degree background in engineering and economics.
Having worked for leading renewable and heating solution providers, Amanda’s knowledge of the energy market and appreciation of the dynamics that play within it, help her to present Brownlow’s comprehensive range of services in a simple, value-driven way.
This is strengthened by her own energy and passion to communicate Brownlow’s transparent, honest and client-focused approach which underpins our claim ‘The utility specialist you can trust!’
Iain joined Brownlow in February 2023 bringing a wealth of energy engineering, management and assessment knowledge to the Brownlow sustainability portfolio.
With over 20 years’ experience, Iain boasts a range of academic and industry qualifications including a BEng (Mechanical Engineering), PRINCE 2, IOSH Managing Safely & BOAS. Together with excellent project management skills, Iain has successfully held a range of senior-level project, energy and operations roles both internally and customer facing.
Iain has applied his acquired knowledge and skills across several industry sectors including Food & Beverage manufacturing, Pharmaceutical manufacturing, high containment laboratories (SAPO4) & commercial offices. Notable projects include developing Energy reduction, Net Zero, metering and BMS alarm response strategies; ESOS audits/assessments; Lighting, HVAC, steam system, incinerator and laboratory upgrades.
Iain will be instrumental in helping UK businesses with ESOS compliance and conducting energy audits to determine energy saving initiatives as part of their Net Zero strategy.
Dave has a proven ability to deliver business results through challenging and problematic circumstances that surround businesses energy and water portfolios.
Having over 30 years of senior level energy and water industry experience with leading consultancies including Inenco and PCMG, Dave identifies, understands and resolves the contract, billing and regulatory issues that many businesses face with their energy and water portfolios. He a a very clear, yet detailed grasp on the numerous elements of a business's gas, electricity and water bill, including the increasing number of non-commodity charges such as DuoS, TNUoS, BUSoS, Climate Change Levy (CCL), MOP's, Feed in Tariff (FIT) etc.
With a strong operational background, Dave applies sophisticated analytical techniques and supplier negotiation to ensure a smooth and complete delivery of a project. He has identified over £7M in recoveries/savings since joining Brownlow in 2018.
Dave joins Brownlow with a breadth of energy wisdom and IT expertise, helping to reinforce Brownlow's position as a cutting-edge partner.
With over 16 years of experience in the energy industry, Dave has overseen numerous sub-metering installations for high-profile clients such as Cambridge Airport and Bentley Motors. He has also demonstrated exceptional skills in developing innovative systems, including CRMs, sustainability reporting systems, and bill and contract management systems.
In addition to his software development work, Dave has streamlined these systems into centralised hubs for businesses, allowing for a single point of contact. He also maintains assets such as servers, laptops, mobiles, and network hardware.
