Way Church is a non-denominational Christian church located in Wigan, Greater Manchester. Rooted in strong values of identity, community, mission, people, generosity, faith, and honour, Way is a vibrant and diverse community welcoming individuals from all backgrounds and beliefs. Following a significant renovation project, the church has transformed into a modern, multifunctional space that hosts various events and services for the local community.
Following the church’s renovation, it became clear that due to their newly upgraded facilities, Way’s energy setup was no longer fit for purpose. The church was locked into fixed energy contracts with suppliers they were dissatisfied with and facing uncompetitive rates.
Additionally, their electricity supply capacity (kVA) was significantly higher than necessary, leading to unnecessary charges on their bills. These inefficiencies were limiting the church’s ability to maximise its budget for community impact.
After a site visit to review the premises and infrastructure, our team immediately identified that the church’s kVA level was set too high for its actual energy usage. By conducting a full bill audit and analysing the building’s consumption patterns, we were able to recommend and implement a reduced supply capacity aligned with their needs, resulting in a substantial cost saving.
Alongside the audit, we transitioned the church from their underperforming fixed energy contracts into our TotalEnergies ‘flex basket’, securing improved rates and greater flexibility in a volatile market.
By optimising their energy setup, we enabled the church to redirect critical funds toward initiatives that support local people, whether through workshops, outreach schemes, or enhanced community services.
