“By engaging with Brownlow’s Sustainability Essential service, IMSERV has taken the first steps towards achieving Net Zero by creating a Carbon Footprint.”

IMSERV: Compliant, Competitive, and Committed to Sustainability.

Located in Milton Keynes, IMSERV is one of the UK’s leading data collection and energy metering expert. The company is renowned for providing reliable access to energy data intelligence, meaning its customers can get a better idea of ‘how’, ‘when’, and ‘where’ energy is being used.

Challenge

Streamlined Energy and Carbon Report (SECR) is a government regulation that requires quoted and large unquoted companies to disclose information on their energy use and carbon emissions annually. IMSERV, being a large unquoted company, met the required qualifications to comply with the SECR regulation.

In addition, IMSERV sought guidance to better understand their carbon footprint as a part of the business’s wider sustainability goals.

Solution

Brownlow’s sustainability team had the skills and expertise to support IMSERV with its carbon compliance and obligations.

SECR – The standard timeframe for the preparation of a SECR report is usually around four weeks, from the time when Brownlow receives the necessary data. However, for IMSERV’s 2023 report, the timeframe was much less. With a focus and experience in the SECR process, Brownlow pulled the SECR report together in a short timeframe as soon as they received the required data, ensuring that IMSERV remained compliant.

Carbon Footprint – Brownlow also developed a comprehensive carbon footprint report for IMSERV via their ‘Sustainability Essential’ service. The report will assist IMSERV in achieving its corporate objectives of enhancing efficiency, reducing carbon and driving sustainability.

Benefit

The primary benefit of complying with SECR is that IMSERV has avoided any financial penalties that can be imposed if a business fails to meet the conditions set out in the regulation. Furthermore, by continuously measuring and reporting on their energy usage and carbon emissions, IMSERV can identify areas of focus for energy efficiency improvements and reducing their impact on the environment. Ultimately, complying with SECR can lead to improved business efficiency, cost savings, and a more sustainable future for IMServ and the wider environment.

By engaging with Brownlow’s Sustainability Essential service, IMSERV has taken the first steps towards achieving Net Zero by creating a Carbon Footprint. This move is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to sustainability and taking responsibility for the environment. It has also strengthened their competitiveness, as many companies require proof of a carbon footprint as part of their supplier selection requirements.

IMServ can now rest easy, knowing that they are compliant, competitive, and committed to their sustainability journey.

“Brownlow Utilities provided expert guidance to help us meet our SECR obligations under tight deadlines. Their professionalism, speed, and deep understanding of sustainability reporting gave us confidence throughout the process. With their support, we’re not only compliant, we’re also equipped with a clear view of our carbon footprint, helping us take meaningful steps toward Net Zero.”– IMSERV
