Reporting on energy performance and carbon emissions is now a legal requirement for Navigator Tissue UK with Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) and Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).
The UK soft tissue market, valued at £1.6 billion, sees private label products accounting for approximately 50% of sales. Navigator Tissue UK (formerly Accrol) leads this market, manufacturing and supplying toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, and facial tissue products to most of the UK’s major grocery retailers.
Energy and sustainability have become increasingly important for businesses like Navigator Tissue UK, playing a vital role in addressing various operational challenges. With the introduction of Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) and the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), businesses must now comply with legal obligations to report energy performance and carbon emissions or they will face significant fines.
As a qualifying company, Navigator Tissue UK needed to produce a SECR report within a tight deadline to include in their financial report. Brownlow’s Sustainability Team stepped in to help by gathering the required energy consumption data using their online energy systems. They only needed Navigator Tissue UK’s transport and bespoke data, enabling them to deliver the report quickly and efficiently without disrupting the company’s operations.
Navigator Tissue UK, operating across five sites, successfully completed their SECR report within three weeks of receiving instructions. After a brief review, which required only minor wording adjustments, the report was seamlessly incorporated into the Group’s annual financial report. The report was then promptly submitted to PWC for auditing, allowing Navigator Tissue UK to release its financial report to the city ahead of the deadline.
“I’m extremely proud of the team for coming together and assisting Navigator Tissue UK with their SECR report. Our personalised energy intelligence hub is a significant advantage not only for us at Brownlow but for our clients as well.”
