Doric Cake Crafts
Doric Group is a Packaging and Baking Products Group based in Cheadle Hulme, South Manchester. It has numerous manufacturing sites throughout the UK making it the UK’s Leading Baking Products supplier.
Brownlow Utilities has been successfully managing the group’s gas and electricity portfolios for many years.
They recognised there may be some issues with the water charges at the Doric Cake Crafts site based in Burnley, Lancashire which is a division of Doric FPD, a member of the Doric Group. The Brownlow team set about to review the site’s water and wastewater invoices analysing the charging services, tariffs and consumption data. A survey was then organised to provide a physical view of the water infrastructure and to identify where charges could be changed or removed.
Investigations at the Burnley site revealed that surface water from the site discharged into a private surface water drainage network and not United Utilities drains! Evidence was provided to Water Plus and as a result the Doric Group enjoyed;
– A refund of £13,157.07 for charges shown on invoices back to 2015
– A further refund £6,513.57 for charges back to 2013
– Ongoing yearly savings of around £6,000
Bruce Murray, Group Finance Director said "We strive to be financially efficient across all our operations. Energy and utilities create significant costs for our business and now that we have partnered with Brownlow, we have a clear view of our business utilities and are enjoying the savings as a result".
